The Breakfast of Champions

I tease Tami of Muddy Paws Cheesecake on a regular basis that she doesn’t keep me supplied with enough cheesecake. No, I don’t eat it for dessert, but rather for breakfast. It’s much healthier and tastier than cereal.

As I was going through some disks trying to find more images of her product for the Style Stations, I ran across a number of images that are just too low resolution. Anyway, it did get my mouth watering and now I wish I had some for breakfast tomorrow!

The biggest challenge, however, is figuring out which of Muddy Paws Cheesecake’s 222 flavors is the best breakfast flavor?

I Love April

The first time I met April of Country Cake Cupboard was when I brought a client to meet with her for a small wedding cake and cupcakes. One thing that stood out was her attention to detail. She wanted to make sure that she had the right shade of pink and actually brought out a color card to make sure that we were on the same page.

While she does cakes and specialty desserts for weddings and events, she also has a cute bakery and cafe in Long Lake and also offers off-premise catering and boxed lunches. Personally, one of my favorite items on the bakery menu is hot chocolate and cupcakes.

Country Cake Cupboard will be unveiling a new logo and website soon. We’ll blog about it when it happens!

It’s All About the Presentation

Just over two weeks ago, I got a call from Jessica of Jessica’s Cakes asking for some advice. She was providing desserts for an ISES meeting and was wondering if I had any advice on what she should make and how she should present it.

Since my brain was overloaded, I couldn’t fully concentrate on what she was asking, so I threw out some abstract ideas and said “Let’s talk about this later.”

Well, later ended up being the afternoon before the event and what we decided was to do a “porch” presentation of her fall cookies, cupcakes and bars, using a porch her dad made her as a child and some fun items from Martha’s Gardens.

What do you think about the end result?

Cake, Cake and More Cake

On Saturday, I had a client meeting with Robin of Gateaux.

As thrilled as the bride is about the wedding location, cuisine, photography, wedding gown, flowers and decor, I think her true giddiness is all about the cake.

I might have to concur.

I can’t tell you the number of times that Robin was vigorously clapping and nodding her head in enthusiastic agreement. The cake is going to be a dynamite blend of colors, textures and flavors. But more than anything, it is fine to work with a vendor almost as excited for the wedding as the bride.

Can’t picture it?

Sorry, you’ll have to wait until July.
