Something Old, Something New

My friend Nichole started making jewelry for herself a few years ago.  Quite frequently, she would be asked where she got that necklace or earrings, so she started making one-of-a-kind pieces for her friends.  After some encouragement, she decided to start a business.

Her jewelry line is made up of vintage and current elements.  In fact, some of the vintage elements have stories behind them.  She made a gorgeous necklace for me that included some out-of-circulation European coins (since replaced by the Euro), as well as bits and pieces of metal that look insignificant by themselves, but when she weaves them into a necklace…gorgeous.

Check out her in-progress website, unRefined Jewelry, to get a sense of her work.  And know that if you have a family heirloom or memento that you want integrated into a custom piece, that is the work she loves most.

CB2, I Love You

In my old corporate days, Chicago was part of my territory.  Almost every trip to Chicago included a stop in CB2, as I found the store to be an adult version of a playground.

Colorful, stylish and priced just right.

It’s taken years for CB2 to make it to Minnesota and it’s so fun to send friends there who don’t know what the store by Calhoun Square is all about!

Why do I love CB2?  I think these images sum it all up.

EcoDotz

In my previous life, before I entered into the crazy world of Events, I held a position as a Regional Sales Manager for a home textile manufacturer. One of my co-workers there became a close friend and about a year after I opened The Style Laboratory, she called to tell me she was thinking of opening her own candle company.

All I could think at the time, “Aren’t there enough candle companies out there?”

But she was very excited and I wanted to share her joy.

Her company Galena Candle Company is now a successful retail operation. As she and her partner (and husband) decided to expand, they came up with the EcoDotz Creation Stations to sell to other retailers.

New EcoDotz Creation Stations starts with imagination. And maybe a little inspiration, like a recipe for “Holiday Magic” or “Granny’s Kitchen”. And then, your creativity is stirred.

The new rage invites interactive exploration through the senses using colorful, flavorful aromas captured in environmentally friendly wax dots. The versatile beads can be layered or mixed in any order to create a bright array pleasing to the eye, spiritual to smell and just downright fun for your fingers.

All SOY wax too, so you’ll have a nice, clean burn each time!

You can try the product yourself and order from Galena Candle Company on-line.
