Custom Cake

With all of the cooking and baking shows, the flexibility of having a cake created to perfectly reflect your style and theme is definitely a reality.  And with so much talent in the Twin Cities, you don’t have to travel far to be able to have your cake and eat it, too.

This design by Country Cake Cupboard is both sophisticated and whimiscal.  Photo by Kelly Brown Weddings.

Event Design Hip Tip from b. inspired events

“I love to personalized a venue space using Wedding Graggiti from www.wonderfulgraffitiwedding.com.  The “graffiti” are customized thin pieces of vinyl that look “printed” when applied to most smooth surfaces.  They can be placed on walls, doors or mirrors.  I love them because they are great way to personalized a space, they are very easy to use (transfer on and to take off) and extremely cost effective.  Great bang for the buck!”

Thinking Pink

With the big scary C word being closer to me than I ever thought it would, I felt I should call to your attention to the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

So for the entire month of October, be prepared to be thinking pink!  To get your started, I thought I’d share some pink based Style Boards!

Feather Trend

We’re seeing feathers in fashion, bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces these days. And the feathers are coming from a number of different types of birds…ostritch, pheasant, peacocks (no chickens, however).

I love this bridal bouquet from Flora Studio. The combination of the rich red roses and calla lilies with the black feathers is such a elegant, yet fun look. Photo Credit Sewell Photography.

On the other hand, pheasant feathers add a masculine appeal to floral centerpieces. Summer Harsh Botanical Artistry made sure the the placement of the feathers were deliberate and mixed some great textures. Photo Credit Studio Laguna.

b. Inspired Events is known for romantic weddings and this “pretty in pink” boutonniere is evidence of that. Photo Credit Hidden Garden Flowers.

While I don’t think that feathers go with everyone’s style, if they are used well, they can be just the right added dimension in texture and color to make things interesting.
