Feather Trend

We’re seeing feathers in fashion, bouquets, boutonnieres and centerpieces these days. And the feathers are coming from a number of different types of birds…ostritch, pheasant, peacocks (no chickens, however).


I love this bridal bouquet from Flora Studio. The combination of the rich red roses and calla lilies with the black feathers is such a elegant, yet fun look. Photo Credit Sewell Photography.


On the other hand, pheasant feathers add a masculine appeal to floral centerpieces. Summer Harsh Botanical Artistry made sure the the placement of the feathers were deliberate and mixed some great textures. Photo Credit Studio Laguna.

While I don’t think that feathers go with everyone’s style, if they are used well, they can be just the right added dimension in texture and color to make things interesting.

Blue Skies and Green Grass

I love the combination of blue and green in the work by Flora Studio. Maybe because it is reminding me of summer.

The bridal bouquet, boutonniere and flower girl’s kissing ball are so fresh and lively with green cymbidium orchids and the blue hydrangea bridesmaid bouquets are so soothingly beautiful. The centerpieces are a perfect blend of color and texture. Flora, known for their technical perfection, always has a gorgeous style.

Boutonniere-Baffled

A couple of weeks ago, I posted ideas for boutonniere options to coordinate with a cobalt blue dress. Imagine my surprise to discover hundreds of hits for “boutonniere with blue dress”.

So I would imagine that people are looking for creative ideas for boutonnieres. I put together two Style Boards from our Style Stations…one for boutonnieres that would go well with green dresses and one for boutonnieres that would go well with pink dresses.


Later this week, I will post some Style Boards for bridesmaid bouquet ideas to go with a variety fo different color dresses.

What is Your Style?

Last month an engaged couple wondered into The Style Laboratory in the Gaviidae in downtown Minneapolis. They had not started planning their wedding and weren’t really sure where to start.

They made an appointment to use a Style Station. As they started the process, they found the thousands of images easy to sift through due to how the images were tagged. One of the truly amazing parts is that one of the venues they had looked at and eliminated ended up picquing their interest.

Why?

Because they had never seen the venue fully decorated for a wedding before. They were able to put together a beautiful Style Board that allowed them to visualize how they would decorate the venue for their wedding day.

The Style Stations, which you can use for free, are loaded with thousands and thousands of images from decor to fashion to venues to photographers’ and designer and planners’ portfolios.

Searching on the Style Stations is easy as the images are tagged by color, item, element, vendor, style and event type. Most people don’t know where to begin so they may start with color or a particular flower or event type.
