Ice Blue Wedding

I had been holding off in posting this wedding, as I knew it was going into the newly released Minnesota Bride magazine. Isn’t it pretty?

Give My Regards… collaborated with Linen Effects, Apres Party & Tent Rental and Instant Request to set the ice blue feel at The Depot (appropriately in the skating rink).

Transforming a Room

A comment that is brought up on a regular basis by wedding couples is “I don’t want a boring hotel for my reception.”

Well, maybe the blame is being unfairly placed on the hotel. This wedding reception, designed and planned by Mother of the Bride (who, by the way, is the largest wedding design and planning company in the state) definitely doesn’t look like it’s in a boring hotel room.

Granted, it does take some imagination and knowing the right people to call (this is why we recommend working with wedding planners and/or designers), but a room can definitely be transformed.

In particular, I love that floor covering was brought in for the lounge area…sleek, yet approachable. By adding some draping with soft, luminous lighting and covering the chairs and tables with satin linens from Linen Effects, the room really does look anything other than a “boring hotel room”.

Blue Skies and Green Grass

I love the combination of blue and green in the work by Flora Studio. Maybe because it is reminding me of summer.

The bridal bouquet, boutonniere and flower girl’s kissing ball are so fresh and lively with green cymbidium orchids and the blue hydrangea bridesmaid bouquets are so soothingly beautiful. The centerpieces are a perfect blend of color and texture. Flora, known for their technical perfection, always has a gorgeous style.

Harvest Table

Traditionally, wedding head tables are a long table with all of the wedding party facing the guests. Sometimes this table is put on a stage, sometimes not.

As an alternative, I often suggest a harvest table, which is also referred to as a baron’s table. It is easier for the wedding party to converse with each other, as well as create more intimacy with all of the guests. The harvest table is generally a long table with the wedding party (and sometimes immediately family members) sitting all the way around. We generally position the table in the middle of all of the guest tables.

I know that sweetheart tables are another option. But since only the bride and groom sit at the sweetheart table, the couple tends to feel like they have to rush through their dinner so they can converse with their guests. For alone time for the couple, I recommend that they set aside private time immediately following the ceremony for just the two of them.

Thank you to Kelly Brown Weddings for the photos.
